Windshield Chip Repair Process

Mobile Chip Repair uses an injection-vacuum process in which an optically matched organic resin is injected into damaged outer safelite layer and air is removed by vacuum. The resin is cured by Ultra Violet light and a thicker, UV resistant resin is applied at the surface to insure durability. The windshield chip repair process generally takes 15 to 20 minutes and the vehicle can be driven immediately after repair. A cosmetic blemish will remain. This windshield chip repair process restores windshield strength and integrity. Visual distortion is greatly reduced.

Repairable Damage

Rock chip, or Stone chip damage up to a 50 cent piece size can be repaired. Another rule of thumb is if the damage can be covered by a dollar bill, it can usually be repaired. Repairing the chipped windshield right away, before before being contaminated by bugs, car wash, road grime, windshield wiper fluid, weather etc. is recommended and will produce the best results.

Windshield Chip Repair Benefits

Windshield chip repair is the easy, economical, safe and quick way to fix a chipped windshield instead of replacement. This is also environmentally friendly due to the fact that windshields are not recycled and damaged windshields end up in our landfills to the tune of 600 million pounds a year. In the United States alone! Late model windshields are generally $200 to $300 on average. This figure rises rapidly with newer windshields having special features like rain sensors and lane departure sensors, etc.
